Top 5 maggie killick style holiday rituals…

As I write this Style Post I am preparing for a 7-day trip to Valencia It’s my first proper break this year and I cannot wait. Those of you who are regular readers will know that before I go on holiday, I have certain holiday rituals. Here’s what I’m buying, trying, booking and reading for 7 glorious nights away. I hope they inspire you when you next take a break. It’s all about indulging and being kind to yourself. Enjoy!
Buying new underwear
I don’t tend to buy many new holiday outfits, but I do love to treat myself to new underwear. Opening my case and seeing a few gorgeous new sets in stunning colours brings me so much joy. This is when I opt for super pretty, tad impractical, sets which are usually on sale this time of year. Oh, and a navy set – because navy underwear is so damn chic.
The above are from my favourite lingerie brands : Wacoal, Freya, and Triumph. Whilst talking underwear, if you need a bra fitting (everyone does!) head to Fenwick Kingston and ask for Sophie Barnes. Or book your appointment here. I take all my clients to Sophie - she is so knowledgeable, warm and passionate about finding you the perfect bra. Tell her I sent you - You’re welcome!
Reading a book that has nothing to do with style or fashion
Day to day I am immersed in all things style and fashion. I spend a huge amount of time reading industry publications, style books, and reviews of new brands and stores. When on holiday, I love a good novel. This trip, I’ve opted for The Party by Elizabeth Day. I’m a huge fan of her writing and podcasts – she never disappoints.
Booking a manicure and pedicure
With beautiful hands and feet, I always feel groomed, whatever I’m wearing. Unfortunately, my nails are not looking their best right now. A few too many dodgy shellac manicures have left them weak and split. In the last few months Margaret Dabbs has come to the rescue, with these products and my nails are improving, slowly. I usually opt for a red polish but will be keeping to a neutral treatment shade for this trip.
Buying a new notepad
The idea behind this one is to write down all those new creative ideas that will come to me (whilst drinking margaritas!) or things I’m going to improve (guaranteed to make Killick’s eyes roll). Naively I think I’ll be more organised and disciplined when I return from my break. The reality? Well let’s just say I own a lot of notebooks!
Trying a new beauty product
A friend of mine bought me ‘This Works perfect legs body scrub’ https://www.johnlewis.com/this-works-perfect-legs-100-natural-scrub-200g/p113341407 for Christmas and I absolutely loved it - thanks Linky. This has tempted me to try their body butter. Holidays are a great time to try new products and see if they are worthy of a place on your bathroom shelf. Let’s see what 7 days will do!
Before I end this style post I just wanted to share something lovely that happened to me on my way into London this week. I was stopped by a fabulous woman who asked if I was ‘Maggie Killick’. Turns out she is a regular reader of the Style Post, lives in Perth and is here on holiday until the end of July. It was so fabulous to catch up with her. We chatted all the way to Waterloo and will be meeting up again before she leaves. It made my day and reminded me of the power of the Style Post, and the joy of great women who read it, like Christine.

Have a great week-end and feel free to share this post.
